Dentists Benefit from Marketing
by Ali Husayni, in Articles, on March 27, 2008
March 27, 2008— FORT COLLINS, COLORADO — The results of a recent study show that dentists are split on whether dental Internet marketing is unethical or acceptable.
However, the tide appears to be changing quickly in favor of dental Internet marketing as more dentists join in the advertising mechanism and reap positive results.
A study conducted recently by TheWealthyDentist.com and published in an article in July (http://www.thewealthydentist.com/PressReleases/26_DentalMarketingEthics_PressRelease.htm) found that “most dentists are torn over the ethics of advertising,” the article stated.
“When asked if dental patient marketing sullies the reputation of dentists in the eyes of the public, respondents were split on the issue,” the article went on to state. “The slight majority (54 percent) felt that dental practitioners should hold themselves to a higher ethical code than used car salesmen. The other 46 percent of respondents believe that today’s world is filled with ads, and consumers won’t judge a dentist negatively for advertising.”
Based on his experience in the dental Internet marketing arena, Ali Husayni, chief executive officer of Sinai Marketing, sees more dentists seeking his company’s Internet marketing services, as these dentists work to remain competitive in a competitive industry, he said.
The reason is simple. Sinai Marketing has developed methods of guiding ideal patients to dentists’ Web sites. The methods are focused and deliberate and have proven to reap favorable results, Husayni said.
“In addition to seeking referrals from friends and neighbors for dentistry and other services, more people are turning to the Internet to conduct their own research,” Husayni said.
Dental Internet marketing seeks to connect the right patients with the right dentists in their area.
“It doesn’t do any good to just put a dentist’s name out on the Internet for millions of people to see,” Husayni said. “If a person in Boca Raton, Florida is looking on the Internet for a cosmetic dentist, we utilize marketing techniques to make sure our client in Boca Raton is the dentist who appears on the first page of the search engine results.”
Dental Internet marketing is effective because it ensures that clients’ Web sites advertise to potential new clients who are in the area and seeking these specific services, he said. Dental Internet marketing also can help dentists market to patients in need of specific types of dentistry, such as children’s dentistry, cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, dental implants or root canals, to name a few examples.
A good dental Internet marketing campaign will achieve the following:
- Identify keywords related to each dentist’s practice and work to make the dentist’s Web site appear on the first page of search engine results when those keywords are entered.
- Achieve these first-page search engine results within three to six months of beginning the marketing campaign.
- Bring in more revenue from new patients than the campaign costs to design, implement and maintain.
- Increase patient referrals.
Achieving and maintaining those results is no simple task, Husayni said. It takes knowledge of the Internet market, hard work and consistent vigilance as search engine optimization strategies are developed and implemented.
“Clients’ search engine position constantly is monitored to stay one step ahead of the search engines, which change their algorithms frequently to improve their results,” he said. “Search engine optimization is an ongoing process in which we perform all work manually, with a great investment of time and care on behalf of our clients.”
