It’s the Best Time for Internet Marketing
by Ali Husayni, in SEO Tips, on January 8, 2009

“With the challenges that today’s current economy has on our bussiness, it is even more essential to invest in high quality SEO marketing.” - Peter Eisenhuth, Business Administrator, Dr. Jennifer Eisenhuth.
Most small businesses cut down on their marketing budget when economy slows down. But that’s a big mistake. Here is why:
Marketing Brings Business
If done correctly, Internet marketing will bring new customers to your business. You should expect to not only get your return on investment, but increase your profit as well.
If you cut on your marketing budget, in essence you are cutting from your profit.
Let’s assume you spend $3,000 each month on marketing your business. In a normal economy, this investment will generate $10K in revenues and $5K profit:
$3,000 (Marketing Expense)+ $2,000 (Cost of Operation) = $5,000 (Total Cost)
$10,000 (Revenue) - $5,000 (Total Cost) = $5,000 (Profit)
When economy slows down, you won’t make as much profit on your marketing efforts, but let’s assume your revenues drop to $5K and your profit to $1K while spending the same thing on marketing:
$3,000 (Marketing Expense)+ $1,000 (Cost of Operation) = $4,000 (Total Cost)
$5,000 (Revenue) - $4,000 (Total Cost) = $1,000 (Profit)
In the third scenario, let’s assume you do not spend anything on marketing:
$0 (Marketing Expense)+ $0 (Cost of Operation) = $0 (Total Cost)
$0 (Revenue) - $0 (Total Cost) = $0 (Profit)
You can see clearly that your marketing beget will help your business to keep its head above the water in a down economy.
Getting Ahead of Your Competition
Most of your competition cuts down on their marketing budget in slow economies, because it is the easiest to cut. This creates a vacuum of opportunity for your business.
Competing to be placed on top of Google is an on-going battle. However, since most of your competitors cut down on their SEO efforts, you could seize the opportunity and bring your site above all of them.
This strategy will help you position yourself for the next few months when the economy picks up and people have money to spend on your business.

The Importance of Marketing is not hidden to anyone in any businesses with any sizes. I agree with your statement, it makes sense to me. I believe that nowadays marketing means something more than the simple “marketing mix” which is the combination of 4Ps (product, pricing, place and promotion).
I recommend you to read the Philip Kotler’s bestseller book: “Marketing Moves: A New Approach to Profits, Growth & Renewal (2002)”

I agree. Being able to stay in front of the very discerning consumer dollars is extremely important. I am finding if patients are going to spend money, they want value so they are listening to the messages very carefully that advertisers are pitching to determine if there is value in the product and services. Now is the time to distinguish yourself through marketing and many times additional information is easily obtained through your website. We get many comments about our website as compared to others offering the same products and services.

There are two kind of marketing: Short-term and Long-term. We need both of them; At the first short-term marketing to introduce our products & services. Then long-term marketing which it includes website development and optimization.
Search engine optimization is developing. The purpose of search engines is making accessible websites by searching keywords. Actually people can find us easier with search engines. The only thing we need is a good SEO company!
It doesn’t make different if the economy is bad or good, however the others should know about us.
